The owners of Adna Grocery on Thursday presented a check for $40,005.35 to the members of the high school senior class who assisted during the Adna Car Show last July.

Jim and Cindy Smith started the car show in 2020, and the fundraising totals have increased year after year.

This year’s total is better than the previous record of $29,350 in 2023. The car show resulted in contributions to students of $7,989 in 2020; $16,698 in 2021; $17,680 in 2022; and $29,165 in 2024.

The grand total raised since the start of the Adna Car Show is now $140,887.35.

“The amount they each receive for their scholarship depends on the hours they put in to make it a success,” Jim Smith wrote in a summary of fundraising efforts thus far.

“Our first car show was July of 2020. From what I understand, we were the only car show in three states, Washington, Oregon and Idaho,” Smith wrote, alluding to the COVID-19 restrictions in place at the time. “We as a group decided that we would defy the governor’s orders and go ahead and do this thing. The Adna Car Show Camp and Cruise was born. We had 220 cars.”

The Adna Car Show is held across from Adna Grocery on Todd Mason’s property.

This year, the show included 164 vehicles. Next year, the Smiths plan to include “tricked out semis.”

The car shows include food and craft vendors, a cornhole tournament, live entertainment, live and silent auctions, and more.

“We always appreciate the donations and sponsorships,” Jim Smith wrote. “These two things are very important to making the Adna Car Show a success. A big thanks to our sponsors, Angie Krause and everyone that comes to our event.”
