The Adna girls soccer team was within one early in the second half against 4A Bethel, but the Pirates couldn’t tie things up and eventually lost 4-1 to the Bison.
Bethel took the lead instantly, scoring in the first minute of the game, and while most of the rest of the first half was even, the Bison added another just minutes before the break.
“We just weren’t ready to play it felt like,” Adna coach Patrick Richardson said. “We just dug ourselves a hole.”
Adna came out stronger in the second half, cutting the deficit in half on a goal from Haley Roundtree, which was assisted by Ava Humphrey.
“I was very pleased with how the girls could flip the script in the second half to get themselves going,” Richardson said.
Adna pressed for an equalizer, but Bethel eventually netted two more goals in the final 15 minutes.
The Pirates (0-3-1) will be on the road on Tuesday, when they’ll head to Vancouver to face Evergreen.
