Two more cases of prison riots at Green Hill School in Chehalis have been filed in Lewis County Superior Court.

One of the cases involves a fight that broke out at the facility on Dec. 24, 2023, and the second involves a fight that took place on Nov. 2, 2023.

On Dec. 24, a Green Hill School inmate identified as Marius Velazquez, 18, allegedly attacked an inmate “without warning,” starting a fight between him and two other inmates.

Velazquez was charged with one count of prison riot on Feb. 7 and had a preliminary hearing in Lewis County Superior Court on Feb. 14.

Arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 22.

On Nov. 2, a group of inmates was allegedly involved in a fight inside one of the living units at Green Hill School.  An inmate  allegedly “asked to be able to go to his room” shortly before another inmate, identified as Kent Hewitt, 20, ran into the other inmate’s room. A fight reportedly began inside the room, with other inmates joining in before the fight spilled out into the mail living unit, according to court documents.

Green Hill staff identified Hewitt, Jaimie Lopez-Merino, 20, and Angelo De Trejo-Martinez, 21, as “the main actors” in the altercation, according to court documents.

Prison riot charges against the three co-defendants were filed in Lewis County Superior Court on Feb. 8.

Trejo-Martinez had his preliminary hearing on Feb. 14 and his arraignment hearing is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 22. Lopez-Merino was not in custody at Green Hill when charges were filed, so he will be issued a summons notice for an upcoming hearing date.

Hewitt will be transferred from the Washington Corrections Center for a March 5 preliminary hearing, according to court documents.

According to previous reporting by The Chronicle, Green Hill School saw at least 10 riots in 2023 that have since been charged in Lewis County Superior Court.
