Acorns fall in crossover to Lions

The Oakville football team lost its crossover match at Concrete on Friday, losing 64-0 to the Lions.

The game quickly got out of hand, as the Lions led 22-0 after one quarter and 44-0 at halftime.

We had a great week of preparation for Concrete, had a solid game plan and our boys were motivated with a chance of state playoffs on the line,” Oakville coach Skyler Davis said. “Right off the bat we had to face some adversity and couldn’t fight it off before the game got out of hand.”

Gio Rodas was under constant pressure, making it difficult for the Oakville offense to keep up with a Concrete unit that was putting up points in bunches.

While it was a disappointing end, Davis said he and his staff are proud of the boys, saying that they have taken the right steps as a program and are getting “the buy-in that leads to building a program.”

“They are understanding what it takes to be successful,” Davis said.

The Rodas brothers did have some success through the air, connecting four times for 91 yards. Courtney Price led the way defensively, recording five tackles and a strip sack.

The Acorns finish their season 3-7, and they are graduating four seniors: Price, Jeremy Wilbur, Buddy Roberts and Nate Kluth.
