A Grand Reopening for Sweet Inspirations

The owners of Sweet Inspirations in downtown Chehalis will be celebrating 10 years in business this July, and the restaurant will be doing it in a new location too.

The eatery recently moved into a new building, and opened its doors at 531 N. Market Blvd., Chehalis on Monday.

Co-owner Patty Harris said the restaurant saw a steady stream of customers on Monday and was a bit busier on Tuesday.

“It went very well,” Harris said of the reopening.

Sweet Inspirations was originally located across the street at 514 N. Market Blvd. Harris said they made the move because they were able to purchase the building that previously housed Grandma’s Pizza.

The new location also offers a bigger kitchen and more storage space. The seating area is about the same size.

Sweet Inspirations closed for just more than two weeks to make the move over to the new locations, but worked on renovating the former pizza place for about five months.

Harris said she and her family and a couple friends would work in the restaurant and then walk across the street to work on the remodel. The new location didn’t even have a kitchen.

“It was bare,” she said.

The new location now has a familiar homey feel mixed with slight industrial touches. The wood walls speckled with signs about home, cooking, coffee and ice cream are topped with shiny metal sheets that give way to high open ceilings. Seating includes tables as well as high-backed booths and a stools at ice cream bar that features large light up letters spelling out “sweets.”

While the location is new customers will see their old favorites still on the menu include quiche, Philly steak and cheese, turkey focaccia and salad that’s cut fresh daily.

Harris has worked in the restaurant business her whole life and said she bought Sweet Inspirations because she wanted to own her own business.

Each year Sweet Inspirations gets busier, she said, but she doesn’t expect to expand the restaurant her daughter and son-in-law will eventually take over.

“It’s perfect for us,” she said.

The restaurant currently has six employees, and is open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Sweet Inspirations hosts live music every second and fourth Friday of the month.

The restaurant also sells gifts and all of the signs on the walls, are for sale, Harris said.
