2B Track: Hamre, Olson Lead Tiger Girls to Win

RANDLE — The Napavine girls piled up nine wins to finish first in a six-team Central 2B League track meet at White Pass High School on Thursday.

Grace Hamre led the way for the Tigers, winning the 100 meters (12.28 seconds), the 200 (25.81) and the 400 (59.50), and running a leg of the winning 4x200 relay with Mollie Olson, Alex Pope and Xylee Pope.

Hamre — owner of the best 100-meter mark in the state’s 2B ranks — broke school records with her times in the 100 and 400.

Olson, owner of the top 100-meter hurdle mark in the 2Bs, won the 100 hurdles in 16.63 seconds, took first in the 300 hurdles at 50.35 and won the triple jump at 33 feet, 11 inches — also the best mark in the 2Bs.

Karley Bornstein won the javelin at 116-8, and sisters Alex, Xoee, Lexee and Xylee Pope teamed up to win the 4x400 for the Tigers.

Kenzie Anderson and Kaylen Collette won the 800 and 1600, respectively, for host Morton-White Pass, with Anderson adding a win in the long jump (16-7). Winlock freshman Jessica Neal set a new state-best 2B mark in the high jump (5-3) and Mossyrock’s Maleah Nixon Klein, Clementine Schultz, Sarah Lovan and Stephanie Fried won the 4x100 in 54.53.

Toledo won on the boys side, outscoring Napavine 162-104. Jared Pohll won the 3200 (11:46) and the 1600 (4:59), Anthony Peak won the 110 hurdles (20.19) and Tavis Waner won the 300 hurdles (51.28).

Conner Locke won both the 100 (11.21) and the 200 (23.53) for Napavine, while Chase Van Wyck — owner of the best 2B mark in the event — won the shot put at 53-5. Jacob Johnston won the discus at 145-3 for the Tigers, and Noah Lantz won the javelin at 143-11.

Host MWP swept the boys jumps, with Zach Elswick taking the long jump (19-10.25) and the triple jump (40-6.25), Tristan Storey winning the high jump (5-4) and Kaleb Fuller taking first in the pole vault (8-0).

Mossyrock’s Jess White won the 400 (54.25), and teammate Levi Munoz won the 800 (2:16.09). Munoz and White had hands in both winning relay teams, combining with James Cheney and Lucas Johnson in the 4x100 and Johnson and Danny Summers in the 4x400.



Mossyrock, Toledo, Winlock and MWP will all run at Onalaska’s league meet on April 14. Napavine will host Adna, Pe Ell and Wahkiakum in a league meet the same day.

Pirate Boys Win at Wahkiakum

CATHLAMET — Adna’s boys racked up 115 points to take first in a three-team Central 2B League track meet here Thursday.

The Pirate girls, meanwhile, finished second to the host Mules, in what was a four-team race.

Austen Apperson won the 800 meters in 2 minutes, 14 seconds and the 1600 in 4:53 to pace the Pirate boys. Luke Wellander swept the hurdles, taking the 110s in 18.22 and the 300s in 47.08, and won the triple jump at 35 feet, 4 inches. Clayton Dunnagan was also a triple winner, sweeping the throwing events with a 35-11.5 mark in the shot put, a 97-6 mark in the discus and a 127-0 toss in the javelin. Hayden VonBargen won the 3200 in 11:39, Christian Loose won the 400 in 1:02.07 and Josh Larson won the long jump at 18-5.

The Pirate boys — Wellander, Apperson, Loose and Levi Becker — also won the 4x400 relay.

Onalaska’s Matt Phillips won the 200 (25.23), and teammate John Wells won the high jump at 5-10.

Emma Manning and Isabella Elwood both won twice for the Adna girls. Elwood won the javelin (80-4) and the high jump (4-10), and Manning won the 100 hurdles (17.17) and 300 hurdles (53.27). Lauryn Apperson added a win in the 400 (1:07.45).

Mckinzie Pannkuk won the 100 (13.09) for the Logger girls and took second in the 200.

Adna will run at the Willamette Falls Invitational on April 9 at Pioneer Memorial Stadium. Onalaska will host a C2BL meet on April 14.
