A 17-year-old Poulsbo girl died in a head-on collision involving a city bus outside Port Ludlow, Jefferson County, on Tuesday evening, according to Washington State Patrol.

The girl was driving west on Highway 104 when her vehicle crossed the centerline and crashed head-on into the eastbound bus shortly after 6:50 p.m. Tuesday, WSP reported.

After it was struck, the bus crossed the centerline and hit an SUV that had been headed west right behind the girl’s car, according to WSP.

The bus driver, a 62-year-old man from Port Townsend, was airlifted and flown to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of his injuries, police said. A 29-year-old bus passenger was not injured.

A 41-year-old man driving the SUV and a 68-year-old woman who was a passenger, both from Sequim, were both injured and taken to Jefferson General Hospital.

The highway reopened after a long closure.
