A man is dead and one or more suspects are on the lam following a predawn shooting Sunday in Southeast Portland’s Centennial neighborhood, police say.

East Precinct officers with the Portland Police Bureau responded just after 3 a.m. after a caller reported a shooting in the 14700 block of Southeast Stark Street, the bureau said.

They found an injured man. Portland Fire & Rescue officials and emergency responders from AMR treated him, and he was rushed by ambulance to a nearby hospital, where he died, police said.

Police made no arrests because “the suspect or suspects” had fled, the bureau said.

Homicide detectives are investigating at the scene, during which time Southeast Stark Street will remain closed between Southeast 146th Avenue and Southeast 148th Avenue, according to the bureau.

If ruled a homicide, Sunday’s shooting would mark the seventh such death in Portland this year, according to the bureau.

Police ask anyone with information to call 503-823-0479 about case No. 26-149773.
