A 51-year-old suspect was taken into custody on Friday after a five-hour standoff in Greenwood, following a stabbing that killed one person at a group home.
Around noon, police responded to reports of threats with a knife at a house in the 1110 block of North 84th Street, along Aurora Avenue, according to the Seattle Police Department.
Inside, police found a man suffering from life-threatening injuries consistent with stab wounds. Seattle police and the Fire Department administered medical aid. The injured man, believed to be in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the suspect barricaded himself inside the home and refused to surrender to police, Detective Eric Muñoz said. A SWAT team responded along with hostage negotiators. After about five hours, he exited the home.
Police reporting using less-lethal tools to arrest the man. He was expected to be booked into the King County Jail for investigation of murder.
The suspect was set to make an appearance in court Monday.
Police have not released any information about a possible motive.
The King County medical examiner's office will confirm the cause and manner of death.
