A boat capsized at the mouth of Siletz Bay off Lincoln City on Friday, dumping six people in the water and causing one death, authorities said.
Crews from the Depoe Bay Fire District and North Lincoln Fire & Rescue arrived on the scene shortly after 1 p.m. and found that all six people on the boat had reached the shore, the two agencies said in a joint statement. One person on the beach was dead, authorities said.
Water-rescue units searched the bay until it was established that everyone had made it to land, according to the statement. The U.S. Coast Guard, Lincoln City police and Oregon State police also responded to the scene.
One person from the overturned boat was taken to a local hospital, officials said. That person’s condition is not known.
None of the boaters’ names have been released.
