A Longview woman accused in June of stealing a vehicle in the course of a burglary in Toledo before attempting to run over a witness has been sentenced to drug treatment.
Desiree A. Barnard, 21, pleaded guilty Aug. 9 to residential burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, second-degree theft and hit and run.
She was sentenced to 12 months and one day of a prison-based Drug Offender Sentencing Alternative, or DOSA.
Barnard was charged June 30 with residential burglary, theft of a motor vehicle, second-degree theft and second-degree assault and was ordered held on $100,000 bail.
According to court documents, deputies from the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office responded May 4 to a report of a burglary in the 100 block of Lacey Lane in Toledo.
Electronics, tools, credit and bank statements, keys and a 2007 Mercury Milan were stolen.
Barnard reportedly told police she and another suspect burgled the home, and after being stopped by an area resident, nearly hit them with the stolen vehicle.
