An advanced composting class will be offered on Oct. 30 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Fort Borst Park, Kitchen 1.

“Composting happens, regardless of whether you plan out your compost pile, or just let nature take its course. Learn the why’s and how’s of the composting process at the WSU Lewis Co. Master Recycler Composter (MRC) Volunteers’ Advance Composting Class,” according to a news release from Lewis County Solid Waste.

Topics of the class include techniques for speeding up composting, the use of manures, worm castings, worm tea and food waste digesters. There will be time for questions.

Participants who pre-register will receive a composting trouble-shooting wheel, a small bucket in which to transport your kitchen waste to your compost bin, and a booklet on composting. Materials are available while supplies last on a first come, first served basis.

Pre-registration is required to reserve the composting material. Call 360-740-1216 or email Jason.adams@lewiscountywa.gov to reserve your spot.
