David Watterson: That is why most of the political work of our Legislature is done behind closed doors. Let’s start by making our government more transparent.

Norma Szabo: How about us taxpayers having input into pay and benefits our legislators receive? After all, we are paying for their salaries and all the perks they receive so we should have some input.

• Story: Sheriff’s Office to Get New Ford Interceptors, F-150 Pickups

Why is the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office buying their five new F-150 trucks in Longview and the Tri-Cities? Why can’t they buy locally? Our local Ford dealer probably would of matched the price given by the other dealers. (Just like they do for the average person). If this has to be out by bids, then that should be changed. I can understand putting bids out for construction work, etc., but buying products? No. Buy local. Keep as much money in our own county as possible! Is that too much to ask? Why shouldn’t our local businesses have priority? Just because it has been done in the past does not mean that it has to continue.
