Birthday: Margaret Wildhaber

Posted

A 100th birthday open house celebration for Margaret Wildhaber will be held from 1-3 p.m.  Sunday, Dec. 23, at the Chehalis United Methodist Church social hall, 16 S. Market Blvd., Chehalis.

Margaret was born Dec. 25, 1918, in rural South Dakota. As a young woman, she taught school in a one-room schoolhouse before joining the WAVES (women’s branch of the Navy) and serving as a telegraph operator during World War II. Upon her discharge, she met and married husband Tony in Washington state, and they settled in Chehalis to raise their family.

In addition to a career working in the Lewis County Extension Office, Margaret has spent much time over the years volunteering in her community, including tutoring for many years in the Chehalis school system.

It is requested no gifts be brought to the open house.

Entrance to the church social hall is from the rear parking lot.
