Anniversaries: Iverson, Fechtner, Norman

Eldon and Gay Lynn Iverson

Eldon and Gay Lynn Iverson, Centralia, will be celebrating their 60th anniversary with a celebration 1-3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, at Alder Street Baptist Church, Centralia.

The couple were married Sept. 9, 1956, in Olympia.

In his younger years, Eldon was a logger and commercial fisherman. He has been a Baptist minister for 65 years, and is currently preaching once a month at Alder Street Baptist, where they are members. Gay Lynn was a licensed optician at Walmart until her retirement in 2015.

Eldon was a Master Gardener and Gay Lynn a soprano vocalist for many years. They have been avid gardeners for their entire married lives.

Their children and spouses are Joanie (Richard) Craig, Stanwood; Tereasa (Ivan) Carlson, Big Lake; Patty (Michael) Duncan, Darrington; Dean (Tani) Iverson, Arlington; Philip (Robin) Iverson, Napavine; Christy (Ryan) Brannon, Chehalis; Peter (Stephanie) Iverson, Rochester; and Joe (Tamara) Miller, Puyallup. They have 34 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Walt and Mary Fechtner

Walt and Mary Fechtner, Chehalis, will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary at a later date with family and friends.

The couple were married Aug. 27, 1966, at St. Joseph Church, Chehalis.

They recently celebrated with their family by taking a trip to Disneyland. Later this fall, they will be taking a cruise from Quebec City to New York City with friends.



Walt worked for Wells Fargo Bank for 33 years, retiring in 1996 as vice president and manager for the Southwest Washington district. From there, he worked for Providence Centralia Hospital as manager of the Providence Health Care Foundation for seven years. He then worked part-time leading the capital campaign for the new emergency room.

Mary taught at Holy Family School in Seattle, and did substitute teaching in Lewis County. In association with Centralia College, she taught preschool and worked as a family service coordinator for ECEAP. She also taught GED and adult basic education classes.

The couple enjoys spending time with family and friends, gardening and traveling.

Their children and spouses are Annette Cuccia, Maple Valley; Ron (Cathy) Fechtner, Redmond; and Pat (Erika) Fechtner, Woodland. They have six grandchildren, Marcus and Bradley Cuccia, Hailey and Nathan Fechtner, and Derek and Danika Fechtner.

Fred and Andrea Norman

Fred and Andrea Norman, Onalaska, will be celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary with a celebration at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 4, in the fellowship hall at Mountain View Baptist Church, 1201 Belmont Ave., Centralia.

The couple were married Aug. 20, 1966, at Lents Baptist Church, Portland.

Fred is retired as a forest engineer, and Andrea Norman was a homemaker. Fred enjoys gardening, and Andrea’s hobbies are sewing and quilting.

Their children and spouses are Rebecca Wall, Scappoose, Oregon; Alfred Norman, St. Helens, Oregon; Candace Hancock, Stockridge, Georgia; Michelle (Rodney) Short, Ketchikan, Alaska; and Eric Norman, Kent. They have four grandchildren.
