Three children from the same family suffered life-threatening injuries from a fireworks accident Saturday in Kent while celebrating the Fourth of July.
“One of the kids found a firework that hadn’t been shot off yet, and they evidently lit it,” Pat Pawlak, spokesperson for Puget Sound Regional Fire Authority said in a phone interview. “It exploded immediately.”
The incident happened around noon on the patio of a residence.
Each of the wounded children is younger than 18, but their exact ages were not immediately available. Pawlak said they were all transported to a Seattle-area hospital for treatment. He had no update on their conditions.
