Sirens: Unlawful imprisonment alleged; Man charged for assaulting health care worker; Jail statistics

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Unlawful imprisonment

• A client at a facility in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue reportedly “grabbed an employee by the hips and wouldn’t let (the) employee leave” just after 9:30 a.m. on March 4. The client, Duston Majmeto, 25, of Spokane, was arrested and booked into the Lewis County Jail. He has since been charged with fourth-degree assault and unlawful imprisonment. Bail is set at $25,000 and an anti-harassment order is in place. Arraignment is scheduled for March 14.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard at 12:05 p.m. on March 4.

• A camper reportedly hit a light in a parking lot in the 800 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just before 6:15 a.m. on March 5.

 

Hit-and-run

• A hit-and-run that occurred in the 1700 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue on Feb. 27 was reported just before 3:15 p.m. on March 5.

 

Theft

• Two subjects reportedly stole from a business in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue just after 2:40 p.m. on March 4. The reporting party said a young boy stole items while a man distracted the employee.

• Just before 9:35 a.m. on March 5, a caller in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street reported “he was leaving a cardboard box with blankets outside” for cats “and someone keeps taking them.”

• A vehicle theft reported in the 300 block of Southwest Third Street at 3:20 p.m. on March 5 is under investigation.

 

Suspicious circumstances

• A caller reported a man wearing a poncho was “standing on something (and) holding a long stick” in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue just after 7:40 p.m. on March 4.

 

Scam

• An email scam was reported in the 1400 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just after 7:10 a.m. on March 5.

 

Criminal trespass

• A caller asked that subjects trespassing in a construction zone in the 100 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue be moved along just before 3 p.m. on March 5.

 

Juvenile problem



• A 17-year-old was reportedly “acting out and breaking things” in the 1300 block of Southwest Wilson Avenue just before 5:10 p.m. on March 5.

 

Assault

• Just after 7:10 a.m. on March 6, a caller reported an assault that occurred in the 500 block of Southeast Washington Avenue the day prior.

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Malicious mischief

• Graffiti was reported on a city building in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue just after 12:35 p.m. on March 4.

• A juvenile was arrested in the 500 block of South Iron Street just after 1:15 p.m. on March 4 and was booked into the Lewis County Juvenile Detention Center for damaging property during a family dispute.

 

Theft

• Groceries were reported stolen from a store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue just after 3:20 p.m. on March 4. The case is under investigation.

 

Assault

• Timothy W. Estes, 41, of Redmond, was arrested at the intersection of North Gold Street and Girard Street just before 9:10 p.m. on March 4 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail after he allegedly “attempted to fight hospital security personnel and assaulted medical staff at the hospital,” according to the Centralia Police Department. He has since been charged with one count of third-degree assault of a health care worker. A preliminary hearing in Lewis County Superior Court was scheduled for 4 p.m. on March 6.

 

DUI

• A 30-year-old Centralia resident was arrested at the intersection of North Gold and Girard streets just before 1:50 a.m. on March 5 and was booked into the Chehalis Tribal Jail for DUI.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

Between March 4 and March 6, Lewis County 911 Communications dispatched personnel to approximately 49 illness-related calls, 12 injury-related calls, two Lifeline medical alerts, two overdoses, 14 fires, seven vehicle accidents, 16 non-emergency service calls, four medical helicopter requests and four other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Wednesday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 183 inmates, including 170 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 138 were reported male and 32 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Wednesday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 14 inmates, including seven booked by the Centralia Police Department, five booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Lummi Nation and one booked by Chehalis Tribal Law Enforcement.
