The Mountaineers secured at least one top-five finisher in 15 of the 18 events and those depth points were enough to edge past Eatonville 132-128.5 on Thursday night in a league meet hosted by Eatonville.

Rainier has won all four of its league meets and placed second at its home meet, the Rainier Icebreaker. It has accumulated over triple digit points in all four of its wins.

Madison Ingram had a hand in three victories for the Mountaineers, claiming the 800 and 1,600-meter runs while also running the third leg on the victorious 1,600-meter relay in 4 minutes, 57.35 seconds. Haleigh Hanson swept the shot put and discus and Anika Plowman secured the 300 hurdles and long jump. Jazzlyn Schumate nipped Morton-White Pass’ Madyson Bryant in the open 200 by .1 second.

The Timberwolves had four runner-up performances alongside Bryant. Trinity Rayment (400), Haylee Morgan (300 hurdles) and Ana Gonzalez (shot put) all placed second. Tenino’s Holly Thoren (100) and Brynn Williams (1600) finished second and third, respectively.

Morton-White Pass snatched second place behind Eatonville by 12 points over Rainier. Tony Belgiorno picked up victories in the open 400 and long jump while Clark Henderson swept the hurdles. Hunter Brackett secured the 3,200 as the Timberwolves had a handful of top-three finishes to separate themselves.

Rainier’s Matthew Kenney won the shot put and discus and Zander Peck triumphed in the javelin. Josh Meldrum (100) and James Meldrum (800) picked up victories and Tenino’s Austin Johnson won the open 200.
