A man lit his car and himself on fire at a Vancouver gas station Tuesday morning, police said.

Officers responded to the Shell gas station at 8515 Northeast Andresen Road at about 6:10 a.m. after receiving a report that “a man had been trying to get into vehicles at the gas pumps, was pouring gas all over the ground, had poured gas on a truck that was parked at the pumps,” and then lit his own car and himself on fire and fled, according to the Vancouver Police Department.

Officers found the man under a semi-tractor trailer, and he was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment for burns and other injuries, police said.

The man’s name has not been released, and the extent of his injuries are not known. No other injuries were reported.

Vancouver police and the Vancouver Fire Marshal’s Office are investigating the incident.
