To the Editor and voters of SW Washington.
I see all these lovely words of endorsement for John Braun.
Women need to speak up to protect their hard earned rights.
John Braun is against women’s choice of healthcare. John Braun speaks with a forked tongue, and that’s why I will not vote for him.
John Braun, of Centralia, has been a consistent anti-abortion vote since winning his Senate seat in 2012. As the Senate Republican leader, a post he attained in 2021, he’s repeatedly said codifying abortion rights in the state constitution — as many Democrats want — is unnecessary.
“I think the people have spoken and we’re going to respect the will of the people.”
This echoes Brett Kavanaugh during his 2018 Supreme Court confirmation hearings. He described Roe v. Wade as “settled law” and “precedent on precedent” while declining to state his view on ratification of Roe v. Wade.
In 2022, Kavanaugh voted to overturn Roe v. Wade in Dobbs v. Jackson.
In 2022, John Braun stated that the state should focus on “compassion and empathy and increase support for pregnant women who choose to give birth.”
Then he voted against Senate Bill 6014. This bill related accommodations to be made for pregnant employees.
No, I cannot vote for a misogynist and risk our women’s health rights.
