In loving memory of Richard Hakala: 1938-2024

Richard Allen Hakala was born Sept. 20, 1938, in Spokane, Washington, to Risto and Lois Hakala and moved to Heaven on Jan. 17, 2024. 

The family moved to Winlock, Washington, shortly after his birth, where he grew up on the family chicken farm, went to school and played on the high school football team. He spent the rest of his life driving logging trucks and eventually owning Hakala Trucking. He attended Winlock Assembly of God church at various times throughout his life. 

He lived in Chehalis for 37 years. After selling their home, they lived in a motorhome park for a few years before settling into their new home in Nampa, Idaho, for his retirement years. He loved all of his family and his Heavenly Father most of all. 

He married Delores Layland in 1966. He is survived by his wife, Delores Hakala; son, Jereme Scott Hakala and wife Cassie and their children Hailey Hakala, Danika Hakala and Dawson Hakala, of Florence, Montana; and daughter, Tracyee Michelle Hakala Becker and husband Dan and their children Maeson Lewis Becker, Micah Allen Becker and Madelyn Lois Becker, of Nampa, Idaho. He was preceded in death by his parents and three infant children: Joseph Allen Hakala, Jeffery Allen Hakala and Robert Allen Hakala. 

A celebration of life and burial will be held later in the spring in Winlock, Washington.
