Acoustic music jam

Feb. 2, Faith Baptist Church, 436 Coal Creek Road, Chehalis; 10 a.m. to noon.

Join the Washington Old Time Fiddlers Association for an open acoustic music jam. The jam is free and open to the public, and you do not have to be a member to come to the jam.

‘Insanity of God’

Adam Ray comedy show

Feb. 2, McFiler’s Chehalis Theater, 558 N. Market Blvd., Chehalis; 8 p.m.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for the event, with the action beginning at 8 p.m. Olympia comedian Sam Miller is scheduled to open.

The show is a fundraiser for the Washington Association of Culture and Art (wacultureandart.com), a local nonprofit that builds partnerships with school districts to increase access to art programs.

Tickets are $30 for general admission and $40 for seats in the theater mezzanine.

 

Take Your Child to the Library Day

Feb. 3, Mountain View Timberland Library, 210 Silverbrook Road, Randle; 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Drop in to get a library card, participate in activities, have some refreshments and learn about the library.

The Chehalis Timberland Library invites community members to “unleash your inner engineer and create something amazing with a variety of building materials!” Participants are welcome to drop in or stay the whole time. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

 

FAFSA/WASFA workshop

Feb. 7, Washington Hall Room 207, 120 S. Washington Ave., Centralia; 3 p.m.

Centralia College’s financial aid team will help you with your 2024-25 FAFSA and WASFA applications. Open to all Centralia College students and high school seniors and their families.

Ninth Annual Seed Swap

Feb. 17, Toledo Community Library, 241 Cowlitz St., Toledo; 10 a.m-1:30 p.m.

Free seeds will be available for home gardeners, with the goal of providing local families seeds to grow a garden and stock their pantries with healthy food. Attendees will need to bring envelopes or containers to package seeds, or boxes or bags for larger items, as well as a pen to label seeds. Attendees are asked to bring and donate starter plants, cuttings, divisions, root crops, seedling trees and heirloom and/or non-GMO seeds for 2024 planting. Seeds and plants are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The seed swap is free, but attendees are asked to donate a dollar or two to support library volunteers who made the event possible.

Lewis County Seniors’
“Night of Magic”

March 9, The Loft, 547 NW Pacific Ave, Chehalis; 6-9 p.m.

The Lewis County Seniors Board will host the upcoming “Night of Magic” to benefit senior programs and enrichment opportunities. Doors will open at 4:30 p.m. the day of the event. The annual event will feature a professional magic show by Jeff Evans, a catered dinner, silent auction and a dessert dash.

VIP tickets will include “table magic” performed tableside as well as drink tickets for the on-site no-host bar. General admission tickets are $50 each. Tables that seat eight people are $400. Tickets can be purchased at LewisCountySeniors.org/NightOfMagic.

 

Ladies night in
downtown Chehalis

March 9, Historic Hotel Washington, 545 N. Market Blvd., Chehalis; 2-7 p.m.

Start your evening off by stopping at the Vintage Grand Room in Chehalis. For those 21 and older, grab a drink from the champagne bar and begin to immerse yourself in the shopping experience. Shop over 20 vendors and artisans while you sip your drinks. Once you’re finished there, grab your map and explore all the businesses in downtown Chehalis. Each participating business will be listed on the map. They will be having their own sales and specials to enjoy.

This event is free of charge to the public, but drinks at the bar are not free.

Proceeds from the bar will be donated to the United Way of Lewis County and Experience Chehalis.

 

Run Amok kick-off 5K

March 16, Dick’s Brewing Company, 3516 Galvin Road, Centralia; 10 a.m. to noon.

Runners will meet at Dick’s Brewery in Centralia to kick off Run Amok’s 2024 season. Attendees are invited to join “for a flat, loop course that hasn’t changed since day one.” Entry is $30 and day of race entry is $25 with no shirt.

After Feb. 28, attendees will need to register the day of the race. There will be no shirt option on the day of the race. New this year, a portion of the proceeds will go to Centralia High School Dollars for Scholars.
