The Tenino softball team snapped a nine-game losing streak on Saturday, and it did so in come from behind fashion, scoring five in the sixth to top Onalaska 7-4.
“Very happy to get back in the win column,” Tenino coach Chris Johnson said. “We played pretty solid, and we battled.”
Onalaska (7-6, 5-1 C2BL) had a 3-0 lead after three and a half, but Tenino (3-13, 0-6 1A Evergreen) got within one with a pair in the fourth.
Jaeleen Woodward tied the game with a single in the sixth, and Kiyah Goodwin gave the Beavers the lead with another RBI single.
“We strung some stuff together and just kept rolling,” Johnson said. “It was good to kind of get things going.”
The Beavers added on some insurance runs, and Chloe Grayless was able to close the game out in the circle.
Grayless went the full seven, giving up eight hits and four runs (three earned) while walking one and striking out six.
Johnson said that they made some adjustments to her footwork, which lead to an increase in her velocity.
“Chloe pitched really well today,” Johnson said. “Today, it just kind of all came together.”
Both teams are back in action on Monday. Tenino will host Hoquiam and Onalaska will host Toutle Lake for a league doubleheader.
