Weekend College Roundup: Centralia Sweeps Umpqua

Centralia made quick work of Umpqua here on Friday in a 3-0 sweep in a non-region NWAC volleyball match.

Centralia took set one, 25-16 and set two, 25-15, before closing out the match with a 25-20 third set win.

Centralia’s Autumn Durand recorded 25 kills and Kary Sathre added 10 kills. Peyton Timmons added 32 assists and Rachel Wilkerson tallied a team-high nine digs.

Centralia (6-6) travels to Walla Walla on Friday for the Walla Walla Crossover. The Lady Blazers face Blue Mountain at 10:30 a.m. followed by Yakima Valley at 1:30 p.m. Centralia will wrap up the day at 4:30 p.m. against Linn-Benton.

Tacoma Drops Centralia

Tacoma generated 18 shots on goal to help take down Centralia 6-0 in an NWAC women’s soccer game at Tiger Stadium in Centralia on Saturday.

Tacoma’s Alexis Newsom scored two goals. Amanda Rickey, Aubrey Smith, Mackenzie Rivera and Natasha Muhonen each scored a goal for the Titans.

Centralia’s Haylee Perkinson made 12 saves in the loss.

Centralia (1-5-1) hosts Pierce on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at Tiger Stadium in Centralia.
