The Trailblazers had a rough round at the plate and in the field here at Wheeler Field over the weekend as they dropped four baseball games in a row at the hands of Spokane College. Centralia was outscored 42-7 during the series, getting shut out entirely in three contests.
On Saturday the Blazers lost their first game against the Sasquatch 10-0 before dropping the nightcap 12-7. The Blazers managed just six hits in the first affair and committed a pair of errors to help seal their fate. Nole Wollan turned in pair of hits to lead the team. Colton Titus, Robbie Wall, Kalib Johnson, and Tysen Paul also had base knocks.
In the second contest the Blazers bats came to life in the middle innings with two runs in the fourth and seventh frames bookending a trio of runs in the fifth. Titus had a pair of hits, two runs, and a RBI for the Blazers. James Hook and Josh Krause each had a hit and two RBI.
However, the shine wore off for the home team in the ninth inning when the Sasquatch plated six runners to retake the lead for good.
Zach Vetter had the best day on the mound for the Blazers as he allowed just three hits and one earned run in 3 ⅓ innings pitched.
On Sunday the Blazers’ luck was no better as they fell 10-0 in back-to-back games.
Centralia was held to just two hits in each contest and made six errors to open the day and two errors in the series finale.
Nole Wollan and Ethan Hori had the only two hits for the Blazers in the first game while Gavin Manheimer and Festus Gilligan turned in the only base knocks in the nightcap.
Zach Blake was the only Centralia pitcher who didn’t allow an earned run on the day, scattering four hits in 1 ⅓ innings of work. However, in a sign of the times for the Blazers, four unearned runs were scored during that time frame.
In other bummer news for Centralia, coach Kawika Emsley-Pai was ejected from the second game on Saturday and then earned a three-game suspension for failure to vacate the field promptly. He served the first two games of that penalty on Sunday.
Centralia (4-14) will play at Shoreline College on Wednesday in a non-conference doubleheader.
