Wednesday's Girls Bowling: Bearcats Dominate Thunderbirds on Senior Night

W.F. West’s starting lineup of seniors was dominant on senior night, helping the Bearcats earn a 17-2 win in an 1A/2A Evergreen League girls bowling match at Fairway Lanes in Centralia on Wednesday.

Senior Jolynn West was one of the first girls to sign up for bowling and played in her first varsity match, bowling a 101. Megan Dodd, also a senior, bowled a 160 in her first varsity match. Anahbelle Lopez bowled a 151 and Brianna Powe rolled a 118 in varsity action.

Senior Leslie Erwin had a solid showing in two matches, bowling a 127 and a 187. Kayleigh Leech, a senior, had one of the best performance of the night, bowling a 178 and 193.

Ellie Bunker rounded out the scores with a 186 and a 199.



Samantha Bluhm had the best night for the Thunderbirds, bowling a 188 and a 161.

“W.F. West knocked down 1907 total pins even with all of their substitutions. We had an opportunity to get a lot of girls into the varsity line up tonight and I was very impressed with how the girls performed and how they encouraged each other,” W.F. West coach Don Bunker said. “It was definitely a team first mentality and that is what we need to have to earn a spot in the state tournament.”

W.F. West (11-2, 8-2) finished second in the 1A/2A Evergreen League and will compete in the R.A. Long Invite on Friday at Triangle Lanes in Longview before the district tournament at Triangle Lanes next Friday.
