Wednesday's Boys Soccer: Warriors Edge Eatonville

EATONVILLE — Rochester scored a pair of second half goals to top Eatonville 2-1 in non-league boys soccer play on Wednesday.

The Cruisers struck first with a goal in the first half and took their lead into the intermission.

Meanwhile, Rochester was having a hard time finding their mark. The Warriors landed 15 shots on goal in the contest and left their coach, Matt Ashton, yearning for a little better execution.

“I’m happy with the win. However, there’s a lot of things that we can improve on. With the number of shots we had on goal we should have had a couple more in the back of the net,” said Rochester coach Ashton.

In the second half Enrique Sanchez got things going for Rochester when Anthony Vasquez-Valentine fed him for a score. Later on Mason Pietras scored an unassisted goal to put the Warriors on top.

Rochester goalie Dominic Heinrich stopped three shots in the game.

“Eatonville played us hard. We were lucky to come back and get the win with the way we were playing,” Ashton said. “It was a good way for us to end our non-league season. It’s a good feeling going into league play coming into Monday against Black Hills.”

Rochester (3-2) will play at Black Hills on Monday.
