NAPAVINE — Mossyrock left no question who the second best team in the Central 2B League was here on Wednesday, earning a 3-0 sweep in a league volleyball match.
The win secures the No. 2 seed for the Vikings. Mossyrock will host the first round and quarterfinals of the District 4 2B volleyball tournament on Saturday. The Vikings will face Ilwaco at 11:30 a.m. to open the tournament.
The loss makes Napavine the No. 7 seed from the C2BL into the district tournament. The Tigers will travel to South Bend to take on the Indians at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday to open the District 4 tournament.
Mossyrock won with set scores of 27-25, 25-19 and 25-19.
Napavine’s Ada Williams served 100 percent with 12 assists and Haily Murray recorded eight kills and two block kills.
Olivia Alegria added 22 digs and Riley Beeson had four block kills and great play at the net tonight, according to Napavine coach Monica Dailey. She also noted the great games and net play of Sydney Purvis and Madison Doughty.
“We actually dug ourselves a hole at the beginning of all three sets so we had to dig in and fight our way back. We struggled tonight on serve receive and that’s usually one of our stronger areas that we have,” Dailey said. “The girls showed a lot of heart and tenacity tonight and I’m proud of them for that, we just need to do a little bit better job of taking care of the ball.”
Mossyrock finished the regular season 11-3 overall and 9-1 in league games while Napavine was 9-5 overall and 5-5 in C2BL games.
Ducks Thwart Timberwolves
MORTON — Toutle Lake was too much for Morton-White Pass here on Wednesday, earning a 3-0 win in a Central 2B League volleyball match.
The Ducks won with set scores of 25-22, 25-17 and 25-22.
MWP’s Carly King recorded 21 assists, four kills and served 14 of 14. Taylor Nilius served 11 of 11 with nine kills and Katie Salguero added seven kills.
“We knew they were going to be a strong team. They always are. He’s always got his teams ready to play this time of year,” MWP coach Tammy Kelly said. “We really struggled on our serve receive which really haven’t been doing so we’ve just got to find that, and a few other things, and get ready for districts.”
MWP (9-5, 6-4) finished fourth in the C2BL standings and will travel to Ocosta to face Northwest Christian (Lacey) on Saturday at 10 a.m. to begin the District 4 2B volleyball tournament.
Onalaska Falls to Kalama
ONALASKA — The Lady Loggers couldn’t get anything going against Kalama here on Wednesday, with the Chinooks earning a 3-0 sweep in a Central 2B League volelyball match.
Kalama won with set scores of 25-15, 25-16 and 25-15.
Carmen Cleveland-Barrera, Sophia Leal and Raelee Holmes all had a perfect night at the service stripe. Dakotah Fuller recorded five kills and six blocks and Cleveland-Barrera added two kills and six blocks for the Lady Loggers.
Olivia Mitten had 11 kills and 18 digs and Eryn Duryea tallied six kills and 25 digs.
Onalaska coach Terri Dalsted noted the play of Cassie Caron, coming off the bench and playing great defense.
Onalaska (6-8, 5-5) is the No. 6 seed out of the C2BL and will travel to Mossyrock to face Willapa Valley at 10 a.m. on Saturday to start the District 4 2B volleyball tournament.
Note: Adna defeated Rainier 3-2 on Wednesday in Rainier. The Pirates (3-11, 3-7) are the No. 8 seed out of the C2BL and will travel to Ocosta to take on the Wildcats at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday to begin the District 4 2B tournament.
Pe Ell Falls to Ocosta to End Season
PE ELL — Ocosta completed an undefeated league schedule against Pe Ell here on Wednesday, earning a 3-0 sweep in a Pacific 2B League volleyball match.
The Wildcats won with set scores of 25-17, 25-19 and 25-11.
Ellie Little had seven kills and Claire Cleveland served 100 percent with four aces for the Trojans.
“I would say we’re definitely not where we wanted to be. I’m pleased with them going out and playing hard against the No. 1 team in our league,” Pe Ell coach Karie Cleveland said. “We’re certainly ready to put in some time and work in the off season and see what we can put in next year.”
It was the final prep volleyball match for Pe Ell’s Little, Katie Davis and Alli Justice.
The Trojans finished the season 3-11 overall and 2-7 in league matches.
