TUMWATER — Rochester ran headlong into a strong foe here at Tumwater Valley Golf Club on Tuesday as they dropped an Evergreen 2A Conference girls golf match by a score of 109-25 to the Thunderbirds.

“They are a pretty strong team,” said Rochester coach Brian Keese. “Honestly, I told the girls we knew this was going to be a tough match and I told them to focus less on the score and more about playing their best round.”

Lilly McCauley of Tumwater was the match medalist with 35 points. Mackenzie Gleizes and Riley Swick added 21 points each for the T-Birds.

For Rochester, it was Alex Anderson who set the pace with 12 points on the day. Kyra Darnell added seven points for the Warriors and Kylie Miller chipped in six points.

“I’m not sure that it showed in their scores but I think our top three were playing close to their best golf,” said Keese. “Alex Anderson is our only senior and she had her best round of high school golf with a 12 today.”

Rochester will be back at Tumwater Valley Golf Club on Wednesday for a league match against Black Hills.
