W.F. West’s Aeryn Elder scored nine points to lead the Bearcats, but Montesano was too much in a 67-30 win in a non-league girls golf match at Newaukum Valley Golf Course in Chehalis on Tuesday.

Makenna Klovdahl tallied eight points for W.F. West in the modified stableford scoring system and Elizabeth Twinning scored five points. Emma Finley and Kat Torres each had four points and Laney Barker rounded out the Bearcats with one point.

Montesano’s Mylayna Parker earned medalist honors with 27 points. Glory Grubb had 18 points and Myah Gallinger finished third with 10 points.

“It was nice to go out against a team that has some good ballstrking girls, a little intimidating to our girls. The couple that had to play in the first group, these girls were really playing well,” W.F. West coach Bruce Thompson said. “I was pleased. I thought this was a real good way to start, hopefully at the end, we’ll be scoring 67 points.”

W.F. West has almost a month off until they are back on the course, taking on Black Hills at Tumwater Valley on April 10.
