Tuesday's Girls Basketball: Tenino Dominates Aberdeen

TENINO — The Beavers held the Bobcats scoreless in the first quarter to cruise to a 59-16 win in a non-league girls basketball game here on Tuesday.

Tenino was led by the 26 points by Kaylee Schow. Alivia Hunter chipped in 11 points and Rhian Mathis added 10 points.

The Beavers shot 37 percent from the field while holding the Bobcats to 17 percent shooting.

It was all Beavers in the first quarter, shutting out Aberdeen for a 23-0 lead. The Bobcats got on the board in the second quarter but trailed 31-6 at intermission.

Tenino outscored Aberdeen 28-10 in the second half.

Tenino (3-1) hosts Centralia in a non-league game on Friday.

Rochester Prevails Over Montesano in Overtime



MONTESANO — The Warriors saw a big first half lead slip away, but were able to rebound in overtime and earn a 64-60 win over Montesano in a non-league girls basketball game here on Tuesday.

Paige Winter recorded a double-double with 24 points and 11 rebounds. Teammate Lexi Jones-Sederberg also had a double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds and recorded eight assists. Maddix Schneider was also in double figures with 19 points, including shooting 5 of 7 from behind the arc.

“Maddix is the one who really stepped up her game tonight,” Rochester coach Davina Serdahl said.

Rochester led 20-13 after one quarter and expanded the lead to 36-18 at halftime. The Bulldogs slowly charged back into the game, trailing by just two points going into the final quarter and evening the score going into overtime.

The Warriors had the 13-9 edge in the extra frame to secure the win.

“I was really pleased with how we finished the game. Paige Winter really stepped up in the second half of the fourth quarter,” Serdahl said. “We’ve got to take care of the basketball. We’re going to learn a lot from that game for sure.”

Rochester (2-2) travels to R.A. Long on Tuesday for a non-league battle.
