ROCHESTER — Mak Moore had 10 kills and nine aces to lead W.F. West in a 25-18, 25-14, 25-5 win over Rochester here Thursday night in Evergreen 2A Conference volleyball action.
“I thought they did really good,” Bearcat coach Emily Mora said, noting that the team worked on its offspeed offense during the win. “It was just kind of a solid all-around performance. Everybody was just in there focused and ready to do their job.”
Paytton Crawford piled up 18 assists for W.F. West, while Megan Pallas added eight kills. Ashlyn Whalen chipped in with 11 digs.
W.F. West (6-1) hosts Centralia on Tuesday for the team’s Breast Cancer Awareness game.
Tumwater Too Much for Tigers
Tumwater kept its Evergreen 2A Conference volleyball record spotless on Thursday night, sweeping Centralia 25-11, 25-10, 25-20 at Ron Brown Court.
Danika Jensen notched three kills for the Tigers with eight digs while serving 8 of 9. Kylie Sharp added 12 digs, Hailey Brann had four blocks and Jaelyn Friberg hit on 13 of her 14 serve attempts.
First-year Tiger coach Marti Smith, however, wasn’t discouraged.
“I was really proud of the girls. They already knew coming in to this match that it was going to be a tough one, but they literally battled every point,” Smith said. “There was no give-up in them all night long.”
The score of the third set indicated that mindset.
“In that one they just came in with some good energy. … and decided we’ve got to leave it all out on the floor, and that’s what they did,” she said. “Our blocking definitely improved by the third set, and we were getting our hands on the balls a lot more and throwing it down.”
Brann, she added, played well defensively at the net.
Centralia (0-8, 0-4 league) plays at W.F. West on Tuesday.

Ducks Sweep Toledo
TOLEDO — Toutle Lake came out hot and swept Toledo, 25-6, 25-16, 25-11 here Thursday in Central 2B League volleyball action.
Kyleigh Holmes and Kate Demery each had three kills for the Indians.
“It wasn’t our best game, out of the gate,” Toledo coach Candace Maier said. “They came back in the second game and did better, but we just couldn’t get back all the way.”
Toledo (3-6 overall) plays at Mossyrock on Thursday.
Pirates Fall to Wahkiakum
ADNA — Wahkiakum put away Adna in three sets here Thursday night, beating the Pirates 25-16, 25-15, 25-20 in a Central 2B League volleyball match.
Haley Rainey and Ruby Bower both played well at setter, Adna coach Wendie Dotson said, and Sarah Hoven notched seven kills.
Faith Wellander and Adison Stewart — in her first game back after an injury on Sept. 25 — both played well at the net, Dotson added.
Adna (0-8, 0-4 league) plays at Toutle Lake on Tuesday.
Pe Ell Drops North Beach in Four
PE ELL — The Trojans picked up a Pacific 2B League volleyball win here Thursday, beating North Beach 25-15, 19-25, 25-13, 25-17.
Chrysten Smith paced Pe Ell with eight aces, Ellie Little had five kills, and Presley Peterson served 91 percent in the win.
“It was a good win. It was one we were hoping to be able to pull out,” Pe Ell coach Karie Cleveland said. “Game 2 we kind of let some basic things slide a little bit and ended up losing that set, but the rest of them they just did a good job playing basic, fundamental, clean volleyball.”
Pe Ell (3-5, 2-1 league) plays at Northwest Christian in Lacey on Tuesday.
Morton-White Pass Defeats Onalaska in Five Sets
RANDLE — Morton-White Pass and Onalaska seemed evenly matched here on Thursday, but it was the T-Wolves earning the win 3-2 in a Central 2B League volleyball match.
The first set was a marathon, with the Lady Loggers prevailing 30-28. MWP tied the match with a 25-16 second set win.
Onalaska regained the lead with a 25-14 third set win, but MWP came right back and forced a fifth set with a 25-21 win.
MWP took control in the fifth set and won 15-6 to win the match.
Katie Salguero had nine kills and Carly King added seven kills, 13 assists and five aces. Taylor Nilius tallied eight kills and Shaylee Peters chipped in five kills for the T-Wolves.
Onalaska’s Eryn Duryea totaled 18 kills and two blocks and Olivia Mitten added 13 kills and a block. Kaylyna Deck had 18 assists and Carmen Cleveland-Barrera served 19 of 20 for the Lady Loggers.
Onalaska coach Terri Dalsted noted the serving of Keiley Fickett, keeping Onalaska in the match.
MWP (6-3, 3-2) travels to Kalama on Tuesday while Onalaska (4-4, 3-1) hosts Mossyrock on Thursday in a C2BL match.
Kalama Sweeps Napavine
NAPAVINE — Napavine had their chances against Kalama here on Thursday, but it was the Chinooks earning a 3-0 sweep in a Central 2B League volleyball match.
The first set was close, with the teams tied at 20 before a 5-1 run ended the set in Kalama’s favor, 25-21. The Chinooks had two 5-point runs in the second set to win 25-19.
Napavine led 19-13 in the third set before an 8-point run by Kalama helped the Chinooks earn a the sweep, 25-21.
Haily Murray had six kills and served 100 percent and Sydney Purvis added six digs and also served 100 percent. Ada Williams recorded eight aces and four kills, Olivia Alegria tallied 11 digs and Ashley Dickinson played great at the net for the Tigers.
“I thought we played really well tonight. I can pinpoint the instances where we lost the game. They played hard, they tried to play smart, they just couldn’t get over that hump of winning,” Napavine coach Monica Dailey said. “They’re doing a lot of good things, it was a great turnaround compared to Tuesday. We’re still making those mistakes, those young mistakes. They’re right on the verge, I’m really proud of them tonight.”
Napavine (7-2, 3-2) faces Wahkiakum at 6 p.m. on Tuesday in Cathlamet.
