ROCHESTER — Rochester’s Sufina Ahmath scored a goal with two assists to lead the Warriors to a 4-0 win over Centralia in an Evergreen 2A Conference girls soccer match here on Thursday.
Ahmath started the scoring in the 5th minute with an assist from Emily Warren. Georgia Masseth assisted on a goal by Megan Haury in the 22nd minute for a 2-0 Warrior lead at intermission.
Amerika Jones scored in the 48th minute with an assist by Ahmath. Sofie Sand scored the final goal of the game in the 74th minute on Ahmath’s second assist of the night.
Maidson Bates made one save in the clean sheet, with Rochester coach Robert McFadden saying Bates played great in net by controlling the box and limiting Centralia’s shots.
“It all started to click for them. It was the best game they played, their passing was excellent and moved the ball around brilliantly,” McFadden said. “They got into the proper positions and attacked and defended as a team. They did great and I’m proud of the way the girls played.”
McFadden noted the seniors played well on senior night, including Delaney Glazer, Simi Huriavi, Cecilia Sbai, Emily Elkins, Masseth and Warren.
Rochester (2-12, 2-6) hosts W.F. West on Saturday at noon while Centralia (2-12, 1-7) hosts Tumwater on Saturday at 7 p.m. in Tiger Stadium.
W.F. West Falls to Black Hills
The Bearcats couldn’t get much offense going against Black Hills in Chehalis on Thursday, falling to the Wolves 2-0 in an Evergreen 2A Conference girls soccer match.
Black Hills first goal came in the 10th minute from Anna Zeldenrust for a 1-0 lead at halftime. The Wolves sealed the win with a goal by Madison Klinger in the 63rd minute.
“The girls played really hard tonight. They played well, they had great energy, it was a close tight game for the entire 80 minutes,” W.F. West coach Allen Anderson said. “The girls did a great job of pressuring. It just wasn’t our night to put the ball in the back of the net unfortunately. It was close, we gave it our best shot. Black Hills is a good team, they played hard.”
W.F. West (5-8-1, 4-4) travels to Rochester on Saturday for a Noon EvCo game.
