I-5 Toyota committed five errors here on Tuesday and the Vancouver Mavericks took full advantage of it, earning a 7-3 win in a senior legion baseball game at Wheeler Field in Centralia.

Drew Rose started on the mound and pitched the first five innings, striking out six batters and allowing one earned run. Camden Ryan came on in relief in the sixth inning and pitched the rest of the game.

Vancouver plated four runs in the top of the third inning to open the scoring and I-5 Toyota answered with two runs in the bottom of the third. The Mavericks added one run in each the fourth, fifth and seventh innings to claim the victory.

“We were short a number of players, we have some guys hurt. We the started game with only 10 guys,” I-5 Toyota coach Tom Grunenfelder said. “We have a bunch of guys playing out of position and we made mistakes at the wrong time.”

I-5 Toyota will hit the road on Thursday to take on Vancouver once again at 4 p.m. in a doubleheader. The team will begin the LC Red Devil tournament on Friday at Wheeler Field.
