Summer Baseball: Chehalis Takes Down Centralia

Centralia Titus-Will tried to mount a seventh inning comeback but came up just short as Chehalis I-5 Jeep Renegades held on in a 3-2 win in a summer league baseball game at Bearcat Stadium in Chehalis on Thursday.

Andrew Stafford turned in a solid performance on the mound for Chehalis, throwing six innings while allowing five hits and no walks with four strikeouts in the start. Laythan Demarest came on in relief in the seventh and gave up two runs and two hits but was able to close the game out and earn the save.

Zack Rone started for Centralia and pitched four innings, allowing two hits, no earned runs and five walks while striking out eight batters. Noah Aliff pitched the remaining two innings and allowed two hits and one earned run with two strikeouts.

At the plate, Chehalis’ Kolby Hansen had a hit and two runs and Hazen Hoffman had a hit and a run. Andrew Stafford had a hit and a RBI and McGuire Bull also had an RBI.

Rone helped his own cause at the plate with a double and a run and Aliff also helped his cause on the mound with a hit and a run. Bayden Teitzel, Matt House, Sawyer Vogel, Kyuss Mano and Sawyer Kassell each had a hit for Centralia.

Chehalis scored one run in the second and third innings for a 2-0 lead and added an insurance run in the sixth inning. That insurance proved to be the difference, as Centralia plated two runs in the top of the seventh but was unable to tie the game.

Chehalis and Centralia are back in action against each other on Monday at Wheeler Field in Centralia.

Chehalis Comes Back in Seventh to Top River Ridge

River Ridge scored two runs in the seventh inning to take the lead but Chehalis I-5 Jeep Renegades scored two runs of their own in the bottom of the seventh to win 7-6 in a summer baseball game at Bearcat Stadium in Chehalis on Wednesday.

Austin Johnson started on the mound and threw four innings, allowing three hits and one walk while striking out six batters.

Hazen Hoffman was 2-for-2 with a run, a RBI and two walks and Ashton Lopez was 2-for-3 with a double. Logan Moore was 2-for-3 with a run and a RBI and Drayson Hilkemeier had a triple, a run and a RBI. Laythan Demarest chipped in a hit and two runs for Chehalis.

River Ridge scored four runs in the first inning, but Chehalis slowly chipped away at the lead, scoring one run in the first, two runs in the second and two runs in the fifth to take a 5-4 lead. After River Ridge took the lead in the seventh, Chehalis answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning for a walk off win.
