TACOMA — Centralia shot 50 percent from the field to cruise past Tacoma 76-59 in an NWAC West Region men’s basketball game here on Saturday.
Marqus Gilson recorded 17 points, nine rebounds and five assists for the Blazers. LaBrandon Price tallied 12 points and Dionte’ Dixon also had 12 points and seven steals. Liam Murphy was also in double figure scoring with 10.
Travis Parker-Lopez led all scorers with 22 points and Cameron Collins added 14 points for the Titans.
The Blazers shot 50 percent from the field including a 45 percent clip from behind the arc. Tacoma shot just 33 percent from the field while shooting 36 percent from downtown.
Tacoma led 34-31 at halftime but it was all Blazers in the second half, outscoring the Titans 45-25 to cruise to the win.
Centralia (17-9, 7-4) hosts Green River on Wednesday in a conference showdown.
Women’s Basketball
Blazers Lose Fourth Straight Against Tacoma
TACOMA — Caitlin Yenne recorded a double-double for Centralia but it wasn’t enough as Tacoma won 70-67 in an NWAC West Region women’s basketball game here on Saturday.
It was the fourth straight loss for Centralia after opening West Region play 7-0.
Yenne scored 11 points to go with 10 rebounds and seven assists. Piper Cai led Centralia with 16 points and Lindsey Nurmi added 12 points.
Avery Campbell led all scorers with 25 points. Jazlyn Owens contributed 16 points and Mayra Rodriguez tallied 12 points.
Tacoma won the rebounding battle, 38-29, although the Titans had 24 turnovers.
Centralia led 20-17 after one quarter and was able to hold onto a 39-37 lead at halftime. The Blazers managed just 10 points in the third quarter to trail 51-49 going into the final frame, and Centralia couldn’t quite make a comeback in the fourth.
Centralia (13-12, 7-4) hosts Green River on Wednesday.
