Track & Field: Wylam Helps Bearcats Win at Adna

ADNA — Joseph Wylam won the shot put and was runner up in the discus, helping the W.F. West boys score 150 points to capture first at Adna’s six-team Pirate Classic here Tuesday.

Wylam threw the shot 39 feet, 8 inches to best teammate Tanner McDonald by eight inches. In the discus, Wylam hit a mark of 101-7, to place behind only Adna’s Clayton Dunnagan, who won the event with a throw of 107-4.

Also winning for the Bearcats were Jack Mallonee in the 400 with a time of 56.13 seconds, Terek Thornburg in the 800 (2:06.55) and Matthew Zylstra in the 3200 (11:47.48). W.F. West, which defeated runner-up Adna by 15 points, also won the 4x400 relay in 3:47.37.

Winlock’s Issac Allen had an impressive afternoon, as the senior took first in both the long and triple jump. Allen’s mark of 22-0 in the long jump was more than three feet ahead of second place. Allen tied with Adna’s Luke Wellander, with each athlete jumping 36-7.

On the girls side, Emma Manning of Adna won both hurdles races, running 16.97 in the 100 and 52.28 in the 300.



Mckinzie Pannkuk of Onalaska took first in the 200 and second in the 100, with times of 28.81 and 13.49, respectively. Phoebe Rich, also of won the 100 in 13.49.

W.F. West swept the top three places in the javelin, as Courtney Bennett (86-2), Hunter Snyder (85-5) and Emily Witham (83-10) all threw over 80 feet.

Freshman Jessica Neal of Winlock won the high jump after clearing 5-2.

Wahkiakum won the team event with 146 points, over Toutle Lake’s 125.
