Friday's Girls Wrestling: W.F. West Girls Win Lumberjill Invite

LONGVIEW — The W.F. West girls captured the title at the Lumberjack Invite here on Friday.

Madison Wilson (120 pounds), Brisa Leal-Sierra (170) and Salma Gomez (190) each finished second for the Bearcats.

Wilson won by injury default in the semifinals before falling to Columbia-White Salmon’s Hailey Johnson in the finals.

Leal-Sierra won her first two matches by pin against Prairie’s Leighann Linge and Fife’s Nadine Abaglo to reach the finals. Mountain View’s Katelyn Cera won by an 8-3 decision over Leal-Sierra in the finals.

Gomez won by forfeit in the semifinals, but lost to Mountain View’s Indra Gutierrez-Gaitan by pin in the finals.



Elizabeth Patana (110), Natasha Dugger (120) and Riley Johnston (135) each finished third for W.F. West. After an opening match lost, Patana recovered in her next match with a pin over R.A. Long’s Katie Sovel before falling in her final match.

Dugger won her opening match before falling to Johnson. Dugger won 20-2 over Mountain View’s Alyssa Lewis to take third.

Johnston pinned Prairie’s Yana Paskar in her opening match before falling in her next two matches to take third.

Monica Valencia-Alvarado finished fourth for the Bearcats.

W.F. West competes next against Olympia on Monday.
