STEVENSON — United didn’t take its foot off the pedal in its first SWW 1A Trico League game of the season here Tuesday, hammering Stevenson 10-0 in a quickly-decided boys soccer contest.

“It was a lot of goals happening, and the weather was pretty decent,” said Horst Malunat, coach of the Toledo-Winlock combination squad. “We were pretty happy about that.”

Gustavo Barragan scored three goals, all in the first half, and United led 8-0 at the intermission. All 21 players who made the trip saw time on the pitch, with Allen Contreras and Ethan Smith splitting time in goal and securing the shutout.

Isaac Garibay and Andreas Malunat each scored and notched an assist, Contreras scored on a penalty kick in the first half, and Nicholas Patching scored twice with an assist.

Jonathan VanVleck dished out four assists, Corbin Mansker and David VanVleck each added goals, and Adan Cibrian chipped in a second-half assist for United.

United, now 3-1 with nonleague wins over W.F. West and Centralia, has racked up 26 goals on the season.

“We’re very much in the scoring mode, which I’m okay with,” Malunat said. “They worked hard, and they were good, but yeah, we’re doing well.”

United (3-1, 1-0 league) hosts La Center in Toledo on Thursday in a rematch of last year’s District 4 championship game.
