Balanced Tigers Run Past Morton-White Pass

NAPAVINE — Napavine had 10 different players score here Monday, putting away Morton-White Pass 56-28 in non-league girls basketball action.

Rae Sisson led Napavine with 12 points, and the Tigers led 14-3 after a quarter and 29-10 by halftime.

“The girls played hard today,” Napavine coach Shane Schutz said. “There was a lot of hustle, and good defense led to offensive production.”

The Tigers hit 6 of 12 from long range, with Sisson and Natalya Marcial each hitting 2 of 4. Marcial finished with 10 points.

Keira O’Neill added 13 rebounds for Napavine.

Shaylee Peters scored 14 points with 15 rebounds to pace MWP.

Napavine (3-5) plays at Winlock on Thursday. Morton-White Pass (1-9) plays at Onalaska on Saturday.

Schaplow Scores 29 as Toledo Beat Yakama Tribal

TOLEDO — Kal Schaplow poured in 29 points and Toledo crushed Yakama Tribal, 63-40, here Monday in non-league girls basketball action.



Stacie Spahr addd 17 points and 17 rebounds for the Indians (8-1), who trailed 14-10 after a quarter but outscored the Eagles 42-12 over the next two frames.

“We picked up our defense in the second quarter and we really got out and ran and moved the ball well,” Toledo coach Brian Layton said. “We did a good job of not giving up any offensive rebounds.”

Jada Luilamaga led Yakama Tribal with 12 points.

Marina Smith added eight points, six rebounds, four assists and four steals for Toledo. Schaplow added four assists, helping Toledo to a total of 20.

Haleigh Holmes and Alejandra Cadarso each grabbed six rebounds for the Indians. Toledo hosts Winlock on Tuesday.

Tigers Fall to Eagles During Holiday Tournament

VANCOUVER — The Tigers started rough, scoring just three points during the first quarter, here Saturday in a 65-25 loss to Hudson’s Bay at Evergreen High School

“We were getting a lot of hard looks,” said Tiger coach Doug Ashmore. “They were big and long so it was tough for us scoring tonight.”

Kylie Sharp led the Tigers with 11 points. Carissa Kaut scored 8 points and added nine rebounds.

"Sharp and Kaut have been very steady," noted Ashmore. "It's been good seeing them run the court during this tournament."

Centralia (3-7) plays at Rochester on Jan. 8.
