Monday's Prep Softball: Centralia Falls to North Mason

Posted

BELFAIR — Centralia started off strong but couldn’t hold on, as North Mason won 13-6 in a nonleague softball game here on Monday.

Kylie Sharp led the Tigers at the plate with two triples, two runs and an RBI. Courtney Spriggs was 2 for 4 with two RBIs and a stolen base and Hannah Porter had a hit and threw out two runners stealing a base as catcher.

“She (Porter) did a great job. She worked her tail off,” Centralia coach Mike McDonald said. “She had a great night.”

The Tigers got off to a solid start, scoring runs in each of the first four innings for a 6-5 lead. North Mason tied the game in the fifth inning and tallied seven runs in the sixth inning to clinch the win.

“I thought we played pretty well. We got out of a couple jams up to the fifth inning. In the sixth inning, the bottom fell out,” McDonald said. “Walks, errors, they hit the ball well. Seven in one inning, it’s tough to come back. We got out of the gate well, we just need to finish.”

Centralia (1-2) hits the road again to face Shelton in a nonleague game on Friday.
