Monday's Girls Basketball: Mossyrock Dominates Fort Vancouver

VANCOUVER — Mossyrock’s Heather Edgar recorded a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the Vikings to a 59-25 win over Fort Vancouver in a nonleague girls basketball game here on Monday.

Lainee Grose scored 12 points and Stephanie Fried added 11 points.

The Vikings had the edge in height and took full advantage of it, outrebounding the Trappers 30-19.

“We played really well as a team tonight. We started getting the ball down low to the post. They didn’t have a ton of height,” Mossyrock coach Autumn Moorcroft said. “Heather Edgar was a beast down low. When that didn’t work, we kicked it out and had shots. They fouled us quite a bit. Our press, we’d get steals, they’d foul us.”

The Vikings jumped out to a 27-5 lead after one quarter and led 45-14 at halftime. Mossyrock outscored the Trappers 14-11 in the second half.

Mossyrock (4-1, 1-1) is back on the court on Wednesday, hosting Kalama in a Central 2B League game.
