Monday's Boys Tennis: Centralia Fends Off Black Hills

The Tigers hosted their first league match of the season and came out on top 3-2 against Black Hills in an Evergreen 2A Conference boys tennis match in Centralia on Monday.

In the top singles match, Jonathan Schade took down Centralia’s Ryan Mack, 4-6, 6-2, 6-2. Landon Kaut earned the win for the Tigers in the No. 2 singles match, defeating Ryan Cokl, 6-2, 6-0. Neither team had a third singles player.

In doubles, Centralia’s top duo of Brandon Yeung and Brandon Wilkerson defeated Lauri Calvert and Josh Do, 6-3, 6-4. McKiernan Jones and Kyuss Mano won in the No. 2 spot for the Tigers, defeating Kyle Lince and Koichi Faasumalie, 6-1, 6-3.



Black Hills’ Vincent Lopez and Riley Brown won in the No. 3 doubles match against Ryan Kane and David Parsons, 6-2, 6-0.

”A great match, a lot of credit to Jonathan for playing very tough (against Ryan). I’m very pleased with both Kyuss (Mano) and McKiernan (Jones),” Centralia coach Keith Hopkins said. “We’re looking forward to a great season. It was a great win to start our league matches this year. I’m proud of our guys.”

Centralia (1-1, 1-0) travels to Aberdeen on Friday for a EvCo match.
