Monday's Boys Golf: W.F West Tops Tumwater in Regular Season Finale

W.F. West’s Brady Hinds shot a 39 to lead the Bearcats to a 214-227 win over Tumwater in the Evergreen 2A Conference boys golf regular season finale at Newaukum Valley Golf Course in Chehalis on Monday.

Tumwater’s Parker Mercer and W.F. West’s Jaron Howell tied for second with a 40.

Andrew Kim carded a 42 and Tukker Rosbach fired a 45. Dirk Plakinger shot a 48 and Dawson Brindle rounded out the Bearcats with a 50.

W.F. West will continue to practice before competing at the District 4 Championship Tournament next Tuesday and Wednesday at Lewis River Golf Course in Woodland.

Black Hills Downs Rochester

TUMWATER — Black Hills’ Tyler Cassell shot a 33 to lead the Wolves to a 214-258 over Rochester in an Evergreen 2A Conference boys golf match at Tumwater Valley Golf Course here on Monday.



Cassell shot 3-under to run away with medalist honors. Carson Hughes shot a 42 for second place and Jackson Fenner tallied a 43 for third place.

Rochester’s Logan Fry shot a personal best 44 to lead the Warriors. Marcus Ashton carded a 47 and Marcus Corrento had a 51. Gabe Masias and Luke Barth each shot a 58 to round out Rochester.

Rochester coach Eric Holmkvist was pleased with his team’s performance, including Fry’s record setting performance in terrible conditions on Monday.

“It rained the entire time There were three holes where there was some relief from the rain,” Holmkvist said. “The last grouping, it was tough to see your ball. It was impressive for them to stay true to their average despite the conditions.”

Rochester will practice until the District 4 2A Championships at Lewis River Golf Course in Woodland next Tuesday and Wednesday.
