Aselton scored the seventh goal on an assist from Leslie Davies and Meister scored the final goal of the game on an assist from Jordyn Swenson.

“Our passing was working well for us tonight. We spread the ball around a lot as you can see with eight different girls scoring and five different girls assisting,” Adna coach Juli Aselton said. “All girls saw playing time tonight and it gave us a good chance to work on passing and teamwork. Toutle was missing a few starters tonight and worked hard the whole game.”

Adna (15-0) hosts Onalaska in the regular season finale on Wednesday.

Toledo Sinks Winlock on Senior Night

TOLEDO — Marissa Peters scored two goals and Briza Gallegos booted two assists here Monday night as Toledo topped Winlock 5-1 in a Central 2B girls soccer match.

Winlock held a 1-0 lead for five minutes after Alexa Barragan posted a goal off of a corner kick in the second minute. That fleeting lead evaporated when Grace Tauscher kicked in a score off of an assist from Gallegos. Then in the 15th minute Toledo took a 2-1 lead with a goal by Maryssa Peters that was set up by a pass from Rose Dillon.

The rivalry game also served as senior night for the home team and Toledo coach Noel Vasquez said he used that special occasion to get his team inspired.

“We started slow but then we just talked about how we needed to go play for that senior on the field,” said Vasquez. “It made it pretty exciting for the group because the girls just wanted to go out and play for them. This is the last year that they get to play and we are trying to extend the season for them.”

Vasquez noted that Rilan Richardson is the only senior still playing for Toledo while fellow senior Megan Quinn has been sidelined by an ACL tear since the fifth game of the season.

Coming out of intermission Toledo continued building on their lead with an unassisted goal in the 41st minute by Peters before Richardson got in on the senior night fun herself with a goal that was assisted by Gallegos.

Desirae Ramon capped the Toledo scoring output with an unassisted goal in the 62nd minute. For the game Toledo posted 14 shots on goal. Meanwhile, Kaylee Veigel notched seven saves in the keeper box for Toledo.

Vasquez said he is trying to keep his team focused and improving their play before the district tournament begins. On Monday he came away happy with the continued contributions of two freshman players, Gallegos and Dillon.

“She was very unselfish today,” said Vasquez of Gallegos before dividing his attention. “Those girls are really balling out with this young team that we have this year.”

Winlock coach Brian Ziese was also talking about his outgoing seniors and the team’s ongoing youth movement after Monday’s season finale for the Cardinals.

“I think the takeaway is just the learning experience. I started two eighth graders all year and two freshman. We were a very young team,” said Ziese. “It was just trying to get better every game. And we saw that. It just takes time.”

Ziese also praised the efforts of his team’s four senior players, Makayla Allbritton, Jeletsa Cuadra, Joana Barragan, and Cheleena Squibb. “They played their hearts out for us,” said Ziese.

Winlock finishes their campaign with a 3-13 record. Toledo (7-8) will play at Napavine on Wednesday at 6 p.m.

Note: Ocosta beat Napavine 6-0 in Westport on Monday.
