ROCHESTER — The Tigers remain undefeated on the season with a 54-23 dual-meet win over Rochester Friday, powered by pins from Alex Hicks, Caleb Hylton, Austin Lucht and Cameron Blankenship.
Hicks pinned Rochester’s Kyle Lupardus in 5:31 the 138-pound match; Hylton pinned Rochester’s Kalob Spann in 1:06 in the 170-pound match; Blankenship pinned Rochester’s Kayd Brown in 1:34 in the 182-pound weight class; and Lucht pinned Rochester’s Austin Burpee in 1:47 in the 195-pound division.
Rochester, which fell to 2-2, 1-2 on the season, was riddled with sickness, including Warriors' coach Jason Dick. It was enough to cancel their dual with Black Hills that was set for Saturday morning.
Dick said the two biggest matches were the one involving four state participants from last season. Rochester’s Dailin Schlecht edged Centralia’s Eduardo Matias for an 8-5 decision in the 132-pound match.
“That was a great match,” Dick said. “Schlecht wrestled with a fever.”
Rochester’s Riley Cohron held off Centralia’s Justin Lake in the 145-pound match for a 5-2 decision.
“[Lake] only scored on him with escapes,” Dick said.
With Saturday’s dual canceled, the Warriors will next take the mat when they host Aberdeen at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Centralia is hosting Kelso on at 10 a.m. Saturday in the Dave Holter Invite.
