Friday's Girls Tennis: Thunderbirds Fly By Tigers

Centralia’s Rachel Wilkerson and Carissa Kaut earned a win, but it was the only one for the Tigers as Tumwater won 5-1 in an Evergreen 2A Conference girls tennis match here on Friday.

Wilkerson and Kaut won in straight sets, 6-3, 6-0. Noelle Pertzborn and Emily Grove fell to Tumwater’s Kailey Hickey and Leann White, 6-0, 6-0. Centralia’s Monica Jimenez-Solano and Kenhia Hinajosa-Orozco lost 6-0, 4-1 in the other doubles match.

Sophia Koelsch took the win over Centralia’s Gracie Wiley, 6-1, 6-0 and Abby Bond topped the Tigers’ Angelica Vercoe, 6-0, 6-0. Centralia’s Shannon Johnson dropped the other singles match to Courtney Borovec, 6-1, 6-1.

Centralia is back on the court on Monday, hosting Black Hills in an EvCo matchup.

Bearcats Prevail Against Beavers



W.F. West swept the singles matches and earned a doubles victory to win 4-2 against Tenino in a nonleague girls tennis match in Chehalis on Friday.

The Bearcats didn’t drop a game in singles matches. Sydney Cameron defeated Ally Vestal, Megan Wilks took down Theresa Satch and Jisu Han earned the win over Courtney Dodge.

In doubles, W.F. West’s Maliyah Rockwood and Stephanie Drummond needed three sets to defeat Leann Bubnick and Davel Vemudio, 6-2, 0-6, 6-3.

Tenino’s Xmina Ontiveros and Krysta Lira topped Lexis Haller and Mak Moore in three sets, 5-7, 6-4, 6-3. Rhian Mathis and Maddi Hohner defeated W.F. West’s Kelly Parke and Andrea Grubbs, 6-3, 6-2.

W.F. West is back on the court on Monday, traveling to Tumwater for an EvCo match. Tenino hosts Stevenson on Tuesday in a nonleague match.
