Friday's Boys Soccer: Beavers Play Castle Rock to a Tie

Posted

TENINO — The Beavers didn’t notch their first win, but they didn’t record another loss, either.

Tenino played Castle Rock to a standstill here Friday night, coming back from a 3-1 deficit to force a 3-3 tie.

Leo Lloyd scored on an assist from Chris Ranez in the 31st minute for the Beavers, but Castle Rock led 3-1 early in the second half thanks to a pair of Manuel Maramon goals and another from Ming Shinvoranont.

Zack Russell then scored on an assist from Boles Hanallah, and Lloyd struck again two minutes later on a dish from Russell for what turned out to be the game’s final goal.

Beaver coach Kevin Schultz called the performance an improvement.

“I thought we did a pretty good job of connecting passes,” he said. “Leo and Zack worked really well together up front, just quick one-two passes together.”

Tenino managed more shots on goal than the Rockets and created plenty of scoring opportunities.

“All in all, it was an improvement from what we’ve been seeing,” Schultz said. “We just had a couple little mental mistakes that gave up some goals, so we’ve got to clean those things up.”

Tenino (0-1-1) hosts Ilwaco on Tuesday.
