TENINO — Yngwie Dowies scored 25 points to lead Tenino to a 48-44 win over Rochester in a non-league boys basketball game here on Friday.

Frisco Villa and Logan Brewer each recorded seven points for the Beavers.

Patrick Riley recorded a double-double with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Keegan Goldrick added 11 points and Bryce Lollar added 10 points for the Warriors.

Rochester led 13-8 after one quarter, but the Beavers climbed back into the game and trailed just 24-22 at the intermission.

The Beavers gained the lead in the third quarter and led 38-37 going into the final quarter, where Tenino was able to hang on for the win.

“We’re getting better. We finally put together a decent game instead of a decent quarter,” Rochester coach Mark Goldrick said. “It was a fun high school atmosphere. It was back and forth, up and down, a lot of excitement. It was a fun game to be a part of.”

Rochester (0-6) hits the road next Friday to compete in the Port Angeles tournament. Tenino (6-1) is off until Friday, Dec. 28, facing the Warriors again in Rochester.

Northwest Christian Rolls Past Pe Ell

LACEY — Northwest Christian scored 55 points in the first half to cruise to a 75-33 win over Pe Ell in a Pacific 2B League boys basketball game here on Friday.

NWC’s Nick Tarabochia scored 19 points to lead all scorers. Jude Phillips and Josiah Salazar-Fox added 12 points each for the Navigators.

Jeremiah Yost led Pe Ell with eight points.

The Navigators shot 47 percent from the field and won the rebounding battle, 30-13. They led 31-6 after a quarter.

“This was our worst game yet. We’ve been really focusing on defense and we absolutely forgot what we’ve been focusing on,” Pe Ell coach Chris Fitzgerald said. “I have no answer for the way they played other than we just need to keep working harder. When you come out and score 55 points, that’s a pretty good half.”

Pe Ell (0-5) hosts South Bend on Monday in a P2BL game.
