PE ELL — The Titans bounced back from their only loss of the season in a big way here Friday, topping 1A La Center 12-1 in a nonleague softball game.

Britney Patrick hit a two-run homer and a double, Katie Adkins went 2 for 4, Presley Peterson was 3 for 3 and Annika Mason added a double for Pe Ell-Willapa Valley.

Kamryn Adkins pitched all five innings with error-free defense backing her up.

“All around, it was a good game after dropping that one last night,” PWV coach Ken Olson said, referencing his team’s split with Adna on Thursday. “You just want to come back and get your feet on the ground again, and the kids responded well.”

The Titans had a chance to work a few younger players into the lineup, he added, which was a bonus.

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley (12-1, 11-1 Central 2B League) hosts undefeated Napavine on Monday.

“That’s going to be a tough challenge for us,” Olson said. “They’re playing well right now, but we’re going to get it together and go see what we can come up with.”

Rainey Propels Pirates Past Hoquiam

ADNA — Haley Rainey excelled at the plate and in the circle here on Friday as the Pirates won 4-2 against Hoquiam in a nonleague softball game.

She also pitched in relief of Jenikka Poppe, tossing four innings while allowing no hits with six strikeouts. Poppe pitched the first three innings, allowing two runs on five hits with a strikeout.

Emma Eko added a hit and an RBI for the Pirates. Darian Humphrey and Kiyah Kennedy also had hits.

Rainey knocked in the tying run in the fifth and scored on an error to give Adna the lead. Eko hit an RBI single in the sixth to add the insurance run.

Adna (10-3, 9-3) travels to face Onalaska on Monday for a Central 2B League doubleheader.

Loggers Sweep MWP

RANDLE — Onalaska won a quick Game 1, 15-2, but Morton-White Pass kept things interesting in the nightcap before the Loggers rallied in a 14-12 win to complete a Central 2B League softball sweep here Friday.

Ashley Pannkuk went 3 for 4, Alicia Vint and Haylie Howard were both 2 for 3 with a double, and Adalee Sabin was 2 for 3 for the Loggers in the opener, with Amy Henderson holding the Timberwolves to five hits for the win.

The nightcap was more dramatic. The Timberwolves led 12-10 going into the final inning, but a walk to the first Logger up in the seventh inning started a four-run rally.

“We let this one slip away, but we hit the ball well, I thought,” MWP coach Rob Hazen said. “But their top four or five hitters hit the ball well.”

Sabin went 3 for 5, Howard was 3 for 4 with a pair of triples, and Vint was 4 for 5 with three doubles for Onalaska.

Emmalee Hazen went 2 for 4 with a double and Taylor Hazen was 2 for 5 for MWP.
